OCT. 12, 2013 ... On Saturday afternoon, October 12, the annual Guest House Aftercare Graduation Ceremony celebrated nine women who had successfully completed the program this year.

Held at the Alexandria Grace Brethren Church, the event featured inspiring remarks by Walter B. Ridley, who encouraged graduates to stay on their current paths, work hard and let this transition be an experience they proudly share with their children and loved ones. He shared his own story, too: from growing up in the "projects" of St. Louis to becoming the director of the DC Department of Corrections at a young age. Ridley is now a consultant to prisons as president/CEO of The Ridley Group.

The Alexandria Kiwanis Club and The Nugget Jewelers gave each woman a “graduation present”: a pair of pearl earrings.

In attendance were proud friends and family of the graduates as well as Guest House staff, volunteers and community supporters.
