McAuliffe restores voting rights to 13,000 felons

VIRGINIA SUPREME COURT OVERTURNS GOVERNOR'S "RESTORATION OF RIGHTS" ORDER
On July 22, Virginia's Supreme Court overturned Governor Terry McAuliffe's order restoring the vote and other civil rights to more than 200,000 Virginians who were convicted of felonies. In response, the Governor issued a statement reading in part, "Forty states give citizens who have made mistakes and paid their debt to society a straightforward process for restoring voting rights.
