Residential is our most intensive program. Up to 26* clients at a time live in our residential facilities—safe, supportive group environments—with an average stay of three months.
Each woman undergoes an intake evaluation. Based on her individual needs, she and her Guest House case manager develop an individualized “recovery” plan.
Our Residential Program directly provides mental health and substance abuse counseling as well as courses in basic "life skills" (through our Total Woman Program, life skills addressed include interpersonal relations, job and interview behavior, financial management, health and diet). We offer optional mentoring and GED-tutoring programs. And as appropriate, we refer women to other community resources for help in areas such as health care; legal aid; employment; and literacy, vocational and educational training. Our case managers coordinate all facets of the assistance.
Upon completing the Residential Program, clients move to the Aftercare Program.
* Residential recently expanded! In June 2016, we added nine beds—allowing us to serve 26 women at a time. As Residential women matriculate to the Aftercare Program, Aftercare, too, is expanding. Outreach continues to grow. All told, about a 50% expansion by 2018.
